One of India's oldest general insurance businesses is National Insurance Company Limited
The company was founded in 1906 with its headquarters in Kolkata to achieve Swaraj.
However, after the General Insurance Business Nationalization Act was passed in 1972, the company was merged with 11 Indian and 21 foreign companies to form the National Insurance Company Limited, which is one of the four subsidiaries of the General Insurance Corporation of India that has been completely acquired by the Indian government.
